Here's an example of a less successful Conceptual Archeology. Note that while the paper does attempt to faithfully convey the information gained from one source that particularly interested the student, the student nonetheless misses the mark. Instead of spending the majority of the paper examining how a single idea moves and changes from author to author, the writer of this paper only addresses the additional sources briefly toward the end of the paper. It is not at all uncommon for students to trip up in this regard: the point of the assignment is to analyze and trace the development of the concept(s) between sources, not just to analyze or present the ideas as given in a source or sources.
